7 Signs of Dehydration in Women (And What to Do)

Dehydration rarely announces itself with raging thirst. More often it shows up as fatigue, headaches or brain fog — symptoms easily blamed on something else. Here are the signs to watch for.

The common signs

Watch for: persistent tiredness, headaches, difficulty concentrating or ‘brain fog’, dry skin and lips, dark-coloured urine, dizziness when you stand, and sugar or salt cravings. Many women experience several of these without connecting them to hydration.

Why women are often caught out

Busy days, caffeine, hot weather, exercise and even hormonal shifts across the cycle can all increase fluid and electrolyte needs. Drinking water helps — but if you’re sweating or running low on minerals, you also need electrolytes to absorb and retain it.

What to do

Sip water consistently through the day rather than gulping it all at once, eat water-rich foods, and add Simple Electrolytes when you’ve been active, unwell or out in the heat. More on electrolytes for women.
